Every Clinician at Citrus is Registered With the General Dental Council
When you sit in a dental chair, you’re putting a lot of trust in the person looking after you. You deserve to know that the people caring for your teeth are properly qualified, professionally accountable, and held to a clear set of standards. That’s exactly what GDC registration provides.
What Is the General Dental Council?
The General Dental Council is the UK-wide regulatory body for dental professionals. Every dentist, dental hygienist, dental therapist, and dental nurse practising in the United Kingdom is legally required to be registered with the GDC. Without registration, a person cannot legally practise dentistry in this country. It’s not optional, and it’s not a formality.
The GDC sets the standards for dental education, professional behaviour, and patient care. It handles complaints, investigates concerns, and has the power to remove a professional from the register if standards aren’t met. For patients, it’s the most fundamental assurance that the person treating them has met a defined standard of competence and is accountable to an independent body.

What GDC Registration Means for You as a Patient
Your safety is protected. GDC-registered professionals must meet defined standards of clinical competence before they can practise. They must also keep their skills up to date through continuing professional development throughout their careers.
You have a right to complain. If you’re unhappy with the care you’ve received from any GDC-registered professional, you have the right to raise a concern with the GDC directly. We’d always ask you to come to us first so we have the chance to put things right, but if you feel that isn’t appropriate, the GDC is there.
You can check for yourself. The GDC’s register is publicly available and completely free to search. If you ever want to verify a clinician’s registration, you’re welcome to do so. We’d encourage it.
